Why teleconsult

Specialized medicine without the distance barrier

Not everyone who needs a spine assessment lives close to an orthopedic spine specialist. Teleconsult is 100% telemedicine: it removes that geographic and time barrier without sacrificing clinical quality.

If you live far from a specialist, have a demanding schedule, or simply prefer the comfort of being evaluated from home, you get the same level of care Dr. Yoshiro Sato provides in person — without the commute. Also ideal for patients seeking a professional second opinion about their case or before surgery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the teleconsult cost and how long is it?

It costs $60 USD and includes a private video call of up to 30 minutes with Dr. Yoshiro Sato: a clinical evaluation, live review of your imaging and, when applicable, orders for tests or physiotherapy, digital prescriptions or a medical leave certificate. You book and pay online when scheduling.

How do I book and what should I have ready?

You choose the day and time on the scheduling platform, with real-time availability, and confirm payment online. You can book even the same day, with at least 3 hours' notice. To make the most of the 30 minutes, we recommend having on hand your prior tests or imaging (MRI, X-rays, reports), a summary of your medical history, the medications you take, and the symptoms that prompted your consultation.

When do I receive the video call link?

You receive the video call link in the confirmation email, once you complete your booking and payment. You then receive an email reminder 24 hours before and a WhatsApp reminder 3 hours before your appointment. You can also join the video call directly from the scheduling platform at your booked time.

Do I need to install anything or special equipment?

Just a computer, tablet, or phone with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. The video call runs on Google Meet: on a computer it works straight from the browser, with nothing to install. The link arrives in your confirmation email.

What payment methods can I use?

You pay online securely when you book, with a credit or debit card (via Webpay, installments available on credit) or bank transfer. If you're consulting from abroad, you can pay with an international card (via Stripe): you are charged in US dollars (USD).

Can I book from outside Chile?

Yes. The teleconsult is 100% remote, from wherever you are. If you're consulting from abroad, you pay with an international card in US dollars (USD). Prescriptions and orders are issued valid for Chile; outside Chile they serve as a clinical reference — check the requirements with your local healthcare system.

Can I claim reimbursement from my Isapre or FONASA?

Yes, for Isapre. For your payment you receive an electronic fee receipt (boleta de honorarios) valid to request outpatient reimbursement according to your plan; the teleconsult generates the receipt just like an in-person consultation. We do not work with FONASA bono.

Are the prescription and test orders valid?

Yes. Dr. Yoshiro Sato issues your prescription and test orders digitally after the teleconsult, and you receive them by email, valid in Chile. If you're consulting from abroad, they serve as a clinical reference — check the requirements with your local healthcare system.

Can you issue a medical leave certificate?

Yes, when clinically warranted. Dr. Yoshiro Sato issues the electronic medical leave certificate (LME) through Imed, a SUSESO-certified system with the CENS Seal, as Chilean law requires for telemedicine leave. It applies to workers with social-security coverage in Chile (Isapre or FONASA).

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Yes. In your confirmation email you receive a link to reschedule or cancel your appointment yourself; when rescheduling, you choose a new available time on the calendar. You can do this up to 24 hours before your appointment.

Is it the same as an in-person consultation?

Yes for clinical evaluation, imaging review, and prescriptions. Not for the direct physical examination (maneuvers that require physical contact). For cases where the physical exam is critical, Dr. Yoshiro Sato may refer you to an in-person consultation following the teleconsult.
